Biography

Ed has practiced law with this family firm since September 26, 1972.  Ed’s 44 year career was patterned after and reflects his father’s general practice of law, with an emphasis upon being an effective courtroom advocate for his clients.  Now a certified mediator, Ed has engaged in bench and jury trials in Monroe County and all counties contiguous to Monroe County for more than four decades.

Throughout his career, Ed has been involved with personal injury and wrongful death cases, as well as the areas of estate planning, administration of estates and trusts, real estate transactions and controversies including landlord/tenant issues, and business law.  For 40 years Ed has represented teachers and their families through the Indiana State Teachers Association (ISTA), and Ed represents five rural not-for-profit water corporations in Monroe County.  Ed has lived in Bloomington and Monroe County all of his life and helped start the Girls Club of Monroe County (now Girls, Inc.) in 1974 when the area was served only by a Boys Club.  Ed is a lifetime member of the Monroe County Historical Society for which he helped secure tax exempt status as a not-for-profit entity and has served on the Board of Directors of the Monroe County Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Ed obtained his undergraduate degree, cum laude, from Harvard University in 1969 and his law degree from Indiana University School of Law in 1972.  He is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association and Monroe County Bar Association.
