McCrea & McCrea has been a prominent law firm in Bloomington for three generations. We are the oldest continually operating law practice in Monroe County, and our firm has remained in the McCrea family throughout its history.
The firm was founded by Robert F. McCrea in 1939 upon his graduation from the Indiana University School of Law. Robert’s sister-in-law, Ellen A. Lloyd (one of the first women to practice law in Bloomington), was a member of the firm from 1966 until her death in 1991. Robert’s two sons, David S. McCrea (J.D. 1968) and Edward F. McCrea (J.D. 1972) joined the firm and continued its operation upon their father’s death in 1976. Since that time, the firm’s list of attorneys has grown to include Aaron E. McCrea (J.D. 1997), who is Edward’s son.
